Every year there are a total of 32 teams who are allowed to participate in the Champions League. In order to qualify for a spot in the Champions League teams need to finish in the top of their domestic leagues the prior season. Certain soccer betting leagues in Europe are allowed to send four teams whereas some of the smaller leagues are only allowed to send one or two teams. Just like the first round each team will be allowed one home game and one away game.
If there is a tie in aggregate scoring after the two games then the deciding factor is which team scored more goals in their away game. If this ends up being a tie as well then the two teams will need to play sudden death overtime. If that doesn’t solve anything then there will be a shootout to determine who advances. The same rules will apply for the next two rounds of the Champions League.
Once there are only two teams left the rules will change slightly. Instead of playing a two game series the championship round is just a single game. The game is played in a city that doesn’t have a team in the game so that no team has the home field advantage for the game. If the game is tied then there is sudden death which is followed by a shootout.
