If you’re looking to watch the best soccer in the world every year then there is nothing better then watching the UEFA Champions League. Every year there are a total of 32 teams who are allowed to participate in the Champions League. In order to qualify for a spot in the Champions League teams need to finish in the top of their domestic leagues the prior season. Only the best teams from Europe qualify for this league and it is always the best quality soccer matches of the year.

Certain soccer betting leagues in Europe are allowed to send four teams whereas some of the smaller leagues are only allowed to send one or two teams. Only the top tier soccer leagues are allowed to send four teams into the Champions League and those include the English Premiere League, La Liga and Serie A. Once the 32 teams have been selected or have earned their spot into the Champions League, every team will be split up into groups of four.

Once the teams have been split up into groups they will begin playing the first round. For the first round every team will play every team in their group twice. Each team will be allowed to play one game at home and then one away game. The top two teams from each group will move onto round two. With 16 teams left in the Champions League now the teams will be paired together. Once paired together the teams will play a two game series. Just like the first round each team will be allowed one home game and one away game.

If there is a tie in aggregate scoring after the two games then the deciding factor is which team scored more goals in their away game. If this ends up being a tie as well then the two teams will need to play sudden death overtime. If that doesn’t solve anything then there will be a shootout to determine who advances. The same rules will apply for the next two rounds of the Champions League.

Once there are only two teams left the rules will change slightly. Instead of playing a two game series the championship round is just a single game. The game is played in a city that doesn’t have a team in the game so that no team has the home field advantage for the game. If the game is tied then there is sudden death which is followed by a shootout.

Not only do soccer fans around the world get to witness one of the best soccer events of the year during the UEFA Champions League, but there is also a lot at risk for the teams involved. There is a lot of money at stake in this league for the teams playing in it and most of them need it to help cover some of the salaries of players. This is part of the reason why the Champions League is such high paced and why it has become the number one soccer event of the year.
